Femina Potens' monthly visual art exhibition series returns with photography by Midori and Julie Simone. Midori and Julie Simone are two women who have spent much time in front of the camera as subjects of fetishism and desire. See what happens when they step behind the camera and fetishize the male form. While Midori works with color photography of rugged queer leather men in bondage, Julie Simone objectifies her men in beautiful black and white photos portraying faceless male bodied creatures that often accompany forced domestic chores, rope bondage and cbt. Just in time for Folsom Fair Weekend, come out to have a nibble of some hot BeefCake. Femina Potens Art Gallery is located at 465 S. Van Ness (@16th),All Ages. Wine, food and drink will be made available. Please join us for the BeefCake by Cheesecake official after party, the premiere queer porn dance party, "Fist" at El Rio starting at 10pm. El Rio is located at 3158 Mission St. at Ceasar Chavez.
Midori experienced a rich and paradoxical upbringing; born an raised in Japan, educated in the public school system with its traditions and arts while her all-female, feminist intellectual household provided the foundations for radical, independent thinking. Currently, she is a full time writer and educator on sexuality and intimacy with emphasis on alternative sexuality. She's authored "Wild Side Sex" and "Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage" along with her latest, gritty science fiction titled "Master Han's Daughter" as well as many columns and magazine articles. Inspired by various traditional Japanese uses of rope in art, craft and sexual _expression, Midori does rope art as performance and sculpts, rigs and photographs her work. www.FHP-inc.com and www.FetisDiva.com
Julie Simone started off as a fashion and glamour model before taking an accidental turn that landed her neck deep in the fetish world, a world that changed her life forever. Since then she has been published in numerous magazines and books as a model. Her photography has been featured in Secret Magazine, Bizarre Magazine, and the Fetish Photo Anthology 4 and she's had several gallery showings, including the Traveling Erotic Art Show that has shown her work in prominent galleries in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and New York. Julie's art deals with several themes including how one's identity is developed and from where it stems. She currently resides in Los Angeles where she occasionally still models, though her main focus these days is on making erotic fetish films.
Femina Potens is a nationally recognized art gallery and performance space dedicated to the advancement of women and trans-folk through art.
